The story

Why this site exists

Brooklyn Renters is run by a working Brooklyn broker - someone who spends every day inside this market and got tired of watching renters lose money simply because nobody ever explained the rules to them.

Here's the uncomfortable truth about rental advice online: most of it is written by listing portals that make money when you stay uninformed. This site is built the other way around. The advice comes first. It's free, it's independent, and it's written like a person explaining things to a friend - because that's what's actually useful.

How the lights stay on

Landlords and brokers pay a dollar a listing to show their units here as clearly-labeled sponsored placements. That's the whole business model. The money buys visibility on the listings page - it never buys a word of the advice, and it never will.

What you'll find here

What it costs you

Nothing. And since the FARE Act took effect in June 2025, you don't pay the landlord's broker fee either - so honest help finding an apartment shouldn't come with a toll, period.
